Chapter
One
Packing
In the early morning, I rushed to take a
shower and got dressed. I know this is my last day in my school. I had my
breakfast and then I went to school. My school is not far from my house. So I
just walked for fifteen minutes. As I walked into my class, I felt so sad that
I had to leave this school. I never predict how fast my father should work to
Australia. And I never know what would happen with me, I didn’t know how to
speak English. I just thought my father would go to Australia next year, how
soon? That’s a word in my mind.
The
bell rang, I stepped on my feet to enter the class, everyone looked me sadly, I
didn’t know how to say good bye. It’s hard to say it… suddenly a chemistry
teacher and a headmaster came into the class. Everyone sat on their table, a
headmaster said something, there’s tear coming to my checks, all my friends
said good bye… Oh, I can not stand to look at my friends.
“attention
please, there’s something I wanna tell you that one of your friend would leave
us and she wants to go to Australia, Melbourne. I know you have known about it,
but don’t be so sad”, the headmaster explained.
One
of my best friend came and hug me tightly. She cried out, she gave me a kiss
and a flower. She’s Tia, I know she’s never kind to me, how she looked so sad?
Perhaps she won’t have competitor to attract Romeo, the handsome and smart boy
in our school.
I
heard steps from out side of the class, my father came to pick me up. He smiled
to me and hold my hands and I looked every one. I saw a boy beside the door, he
is Romeo. He looked at me and the eyes looked sad. It makes me doubtful about
going to Australia.
The
door of my car was opened, I got in and I could see clearly my school and time
passed so quickly. I remember when I was in class for the first time, when my
father registered in that school. I feel it as so fast. I could not erase in my
mind.
In
the evening, I packed all my clothes and everything I needed in there. I was so
confused what to do first. My servant helped me also, I took two suitcases,
those are my things, things I could not forget in my lovely school. I also took
my teddy bear which was always with me and protected when I slept, or when I
was sad or happy. It’s from someone…
My
mom called me that dinner was ready, I rushed to the downstairs and had dinner
with my whole family, I was so surprised that uncle Tono was there, he would
stay in our house while we lived in Melbourne. He smiled and gave me a little
box. Enthusiastically, I opened it, it’s a bracelet, it was so beautiful.

Ready
to go
The garden was wet, it was raining last night. The weather was so cold, the alarm clock was at 7.15. I knew I was not late to get up, because the flight was at 10.10 a.m. I walked to my bathroom and then took shower. The time was so fast to pass, my mom called me from the dinning room, I knew I never got up early, especially today, I was so tired packing last night.
At
7.3o, I went down and all the suitcases were on the car, every one was ready to
leave. I had my breakfast and ran to the van. My uncle was behind the wheel and
started the engine. My father looked nervous and also my mom. I didn’t know
what should I do first in there.
The
car ran to the airport and the street was so traffic, I hopped we could arrive
the airport on time. My uncle was talking with my father, and I didn’t know
what they were talking about. I just daydreamed in the car to remember all my
best friends at school. In a few minutes, my mom touched me and said we arrived
at the airport. We got out of the car, and my uncle helped me to take all my lugged.
The porter helped us to carry them.
I
heard someone calling me… Lisa…. When I turned around, I saw my best friends. I
didn’t expect they would come to say good bye. They smiled and waved goodbye. I
hugged them and they said that to contact by email.
The flight was ready to take off. The
information desk informed all the passengers.

The
small flat
We arrived at 12.15. It was short journey. I
finally stepped on the Australia airport. It was nice and clean. The city that
I have never dreamed before.
We directly went to flat. From Sidney, we directly to Melbourne, it takes 3 hours by bus or taxi. The embassy of Indonesia picked us by a car, so we didn’t have to take a bus or a taxi. A man introduced himself, he said that he was from the embassy of Indonesia, and ready to drop us to our flat.
The
flat was in the suburban in Melbourne and not big enough. I thought there was a
pool and big just like our house in Jakarta. I entered the flat and I checked
every room. The walls were unpainted and there are two bedrooms and a kitchen.
Can I stay in this place? I said in my mind. My father touched my shoulder and
said” I hope you can stay here, though it was not big enough for us. The bathroom was dirty and there was
no water, actually I wanted to take shower. My body was dirty and I wanted to
refresh my body. I was jetlag, I felt bored and wanna lie down. The sofa could
hold my body, I took a deep breath and sighed. I finally slept on it.
At
21.00, my mom woke up and said there’s a slice of pizza in the kitchen. I got
up then went to the bathroom, so sad there was no water. I just washed my hands
and a slice of pizza could not make me full. I went to the bedroom, but my mom
was on bed lying and took her blanket. I didn’t see my father. I walked to the
porch, I saw my father smoking and sitting on the bench.
I
remembered that I brought some snacks on my suitcase. I opened it and hopped
this could make me full. I directly went to my bed and I lay down.

My
school
My father took me to my new school. It was still in the area of my flat. I just walked to the school. I saw a lot of students, but they looked different, of course, I am from Asia. And they looked likes Barbie. I walked to the principle room, we registered there and I could not understand English perhaps I was too lazy to learn English, now I got trouble to communicate, I wish there was someone who wanted to help me to leant English.
The
bell rang, everyone entered the classroom, the principle and I walked to the
class, it was on the second floor. I saw the class looked clean and the door
opened, a boy looked at me as he walked out to restroom. The principle
introduced me and the teacher let me sit on the third rows, the students were
only 15. It was a small class.
In
the class, I had no idea, I felt confused and I didn’t know what the teacher
said. A young boy said something, “do you understand?” It‘s a chemistry class”.
“yes” I said.
I
was sure he knew I did not understand. He introduced himself, he said he was
Robin. “Robin hood?” I laughed. He also laughed. He gave me a book, it was a
note book. I read it strangely. He smiled and said, I know you don’t
understand, don’t worry, I will help you. I am a head of school community.” He
said. He showed me a name tag and position in his school.
I
was happy to have a new friend, someone who would help me to solve my problem
about the lesson. The bell rang, and everyone went home. I walked out of school
and today I could write on my diary book that I had a new friend, Robin hood,
hehehehe……
Chapter
V
Truly
best friend
Robin
was the first friend I had in my new school. We became good friends and we
sometimes joined the school community. We collected the charity to help the
poor. I got many friends to make and we had got links to socialize. I met many
friends in Melbourne and I also met an old woman who had no body in her life.
She lived alone in a small flat. I also heard sad story about her family.
Life
is short, so don’t be sad and thought something bad about yourself. In short
story, I found a new real life.
In
December 2004, there was a new student from USA. Her name was Samantha. She was
beautiful and cheerful. I didn’t like her caused she acted she was the best in
our class. Then Robin became her best friend. I knew what kind of girl was
Samantha. She was not good for Robin, or I was too jealous that she closed with
Robin. I tried to explain that Samantha was not a good friend, what I got,
Robin was so upset, and yelled to me. Don’t interfere my business. She was good
for me, and I didn’t like what you said about her”, Robin said.
I
knew robin was so angry. I tried to tell him him but he didn’t understand it.
In
class I did not see Robin, everyone said he was sick and hospitalized in one of
he hospital in our district. We visited him, we would give him support, we were
with him. Robin accepted us, but he didn’t want to see me. He was still angry
with me.
I
ran out of the room crying and went home. How sad I was, how bad he treat me
like that.
Chapter
V
Return
to Jakarta
In
February 2006, my father got a letter from Jakarta, it said we should be back
to Jakarta. I had sent a letter to Robin, that I would return to Jakarta where
I was born.
I
thought it was just yesterday I came here, but I must return to Jakarta. I
haven’t got replied from Robin, or perhaps Robin had forgotten me. I sat on the
bench near my house. Thinking about him… “Robin, where were you?”, please
forgive me…”
The
phone rang, it was from my best friend, Jane. She was one of my best friend,
she said Robin was in hospital and his desease was worst. I wanted to visit
him, but I was too afraid with him.
Early
in the morning, my family went to the airport, the car from the embassy had
arrived. We directed to airport, I carried my bag and walked into the airport,
waiting for our flight.
I
felt someone coming to the airport, when I turned around, I saw a boy with
wheel-chair. I looked him, and I hugged him and said I loved you and I cared
about you…” he said I do too. Robin was died on my arm, I shouted… call an
ambulance!!!!!!!
